"Carrera Panamerican, stems from incidents during the life of the author's great friendship with Jaroslav (Jerry) Juhan. An earlier version of the book was printed privately some years ago for Jerry's birthday, and the 2011 revised version has been printed in celebration of Jerry's 90th year. During his lifetime Jerry raced Porsches in the Carrera Panamericana, which took place in Mexico, in the company of Fangio, Taruffi, Phil Hill, Hans Herrmann and other greats of that period. Porsche's success in that race is commemorated by Porsche's continuing use of the word "Carrera" for one of their models."
