The roots of magical realism in the writings of Borges and others in Latin America have been widely recognized and well documented producing a series of critical studies, many of which are listed in the bibliography of this paper. Within this framework, this book presents readers with a variety of ethnic writers, known and less known, and placed in a literary context in which they are treated both individually as writers as well as collective level as part of broader artistic movement. This book is the result of work done at the universities of Sheffield and of Valencia and is a valuable research and an important contribution to literary studies.
